Why should over-weight men want to lose weight?
Author: Mike Bromley
Many men are not particularly aware just how damaging being overweight can be, surveys time and time again indicate that the knowledge men have about excess weight is at a poor level. In fact some men even seem to celebrate their lack of knowledge and actually be proud of their excess weight, as though it's a sign of masculinity. I have a friend that will routinely pat his beer belly and with an air of satisfaction and a big smile on his face say ‘look at that, all bought and paid for’. You might have also seen the seaside postcards or T-Shirts that say ‘I don’t have a beer belly, is just fuel for a sex machine’.
These are typical examples of how we might justify our weight to ourselves, by doing this we are justifying to ourselves that being overweight is OK, even desirable; the reality of being overweight is a little more serious.
Take a look at potential health problems you could face by being overweight…
Type 2 diabetes
Cardiovascular diseases and hypertension
Respiratory diseases
Some cancers
Osteoarthritis
Psychological problems
Alteration of the quality of life
There is a proven link between being overweight and the percentage chance you have of developing these conditions. The more overweight you are the greater chance you have of developing one of them.
Now if you only have a little ‘beer belly’ at the moment, or your love handles are just a bit ‘cuddly’ think about what you might be facing 5 or 10 years down the line if you don’t do anything about it NOW.
Thankfully research has shown that you can reduce these risks by doing something about your excess weight.

Recently, an interesting
email came across my desk. I'll paste it below.
This sounds very promising - check it out.
|
| Dear friend,
Are you...
- Sick and tired of taking 4 or more injections a day, every day of your
life, until no part of you is left un-bruised?
- Fed-up with monitoring what you eat, and not being able to enjoy
a normal meal or night out with your friends?
- Feel guilty of explaining to your kids why you lost your job again
because of always being so sick and tired?
- Looking for a safe way to loss weight but just unable to change that,
no matter how hard you try?
- Scared that one day, chances are you will experience neurological
challenges, cardiovascular problems, high blood pressure, kidney problems,
liver failure, eyesight challenges, impotence, amputations?
If you answered yes to ANY of these, keep reading... |
